Suzuki Baleno (2016 - 2019)
1.0 Boosterjet SZ5 5dr
Great engine, practical and roomy but poor quality components
Bought it in 2019 and kept it for three years and did 30,000 miles in it. Great turbo engine and very economical as I could get 63 real mpg. It was comfortable and roomy, even in the back, and had a decent sized boot with a lower compartment and a space saver spare wheel! It was cheap to run with only £20 road tax and it averaged 52.8 real mpg (not trip computer lies of 10% out) the performance was good too but the soggy suspension wasn't to my liking. The main gripe is the poor build quality and components. The wheels had bubbles under the lacquer, the talegate had a small rust spot, the horn rusted through after it was four years old and four brake pipes also failed an MOT. The air con condenser failed at four years of age and was replaced only to fail again within 18 months. At this point I traded it in for an older, but much better built, Suzuki SX4 which is a much better car. These are built in Hungary whereas Balenos are built in India. I couldn't recommend the Baleno and wouldn't buy another.
