My retirement treat. First car with >200PS, first auto. experiences to date are great. Only real noise when "pootling" around town is road noise. The engine is virtually inaudible. If you floor the throttle, it turns into a pocket rocket. ACC has been a godsend in 16 mile motorway roadworks. It is so relaxing to drive. Then, on a trip to France, with four in the car, a full (huge) boot and six pairs of skis in a roofbox it performed faultlessly.

It's fast when it needs to be, it's smooth when it needs to be, it's comfortable and it looks good in red (no longer available).

Fuel consumption isn't so good but i can get >40mpg on a run.

Finally the simply clever boot luggage restraints are much easier to use than the rail system on Mk2s and never fail to impress as does the legroom and the umbrellas in the doors
