Skoda Superb (2008 - 2015)
Elegance 2.0 TDI CR (170)
Not as good as all the road tests suggest
The twin boot system is good and for those sitting in the rear it is very comfortable.
I have rarely found a comfortable driving position but this has the advantage of keeping you awake because the driving experience will not. At no time do you feel involved with the car I just want to get to my destination as quickly as possible. I would never dream of taking the long way home.
The car is well equipped and looks good value on paper. A major disappointment is the quality of the leather seats. The driver's seat has worn to such an extent that there is a hole in the side bolster. Tyre wear is high but it is a large heavy car. With winter tyres it performs well in snow and on ice.
The Sat Nav has only 5 digit postcode search making it a frustrating unit to use.
My Skoda dealer is excellent; I can see why Skoda dealers have a high reputation. However in long term usage the car does not live up to the reviews it has received in the press.
My daughters Mondeo is far better to drive, in fact comparing them side by side shows how boring the Superb really is; plus that the leather seats in the Mondeo are pristine after 94,000 miles and 3 children.
