Relaxing and versatile

Lots of people talk about the rivals and the odd shortcomings of the Roomster but having test driven most of the others, based on the price I paid from a main dealer and the standard of car that I got, there was simply nothing to touch it. The 1.6TDI engine is a revelation. It has plenty of performance and good torque low down. It is no road burner but acceleration is more than adequate and it is superbly easy and comfortable to drive. Fuel economy is yet to reach the figures of my old 1.9 TDI Fabia but it is early days yet and it is improving steadily as the engine loosens up. I don't doubt that it will get there. I am now getting to an age where the joints are creaking and long runs can be a pain but not in this car. I find it probably the most comfortable car I have been in and makes long journeys a pleasure rather than a trial. It is quiet and sophisticated and at the legal limit it wafts along with little noise or fuss. The extra height makes it easy to get in and out of for those of us who are no longer blessed with the flexibility of youth. Visibility is great and the panoramic roof gives it a wonderfully light and airy feel; coupled with comfortable seats it makes the cabin a very pleasant place to be. The rear seat system is a doddle to use and OK, it may not be quit as big as a Berlingo etc etc but it is plenty big enough. As Edith Piaf said, " No regrets"
