SEAT Toledo (2012 - 2018)
1.6 TDI Ecomotive SE
Brilliant value family car. 60mpg and so much room!
Everything about the Toledo is great; apart from its boot, which is just fantastic.
I've had the 1.6 TDI Ecomotive SE model for 4 months and 8,000 miles now. It was a great companion at the end of summer, giving me 62mpg across a lot of different road types. Now in winter it manages 58mpg, mainly on motorways, and it continues to feel safe despite being on the same tyres.
The fuel economy was the reason I bought the car and it has more than lived up to expectations. What I didn't expect though was how often the 550litre boot (bigger than a Mondeo Estate) and rear legroom would be so useful. It makes longer journeys enjoyable for all of the passengers and it has just saved us hundreds of pounds on vans when moving house.
For such a cheap car you get loads of useful kit - the Bluetooth phone connection and cruise control are the highlights for me as I travel for work. It sits in a low insurance group (15) and costs only £20 per year in tax. Dimensions are 8% shorter and narrower than a Mondeo Estate which make it really easy to park.
3 months of analysis led me to the Toledo. It’s practically and statistically outstanding and, because most people don't buy cars for those reasons, it's also very affordable used or new. If I was to buy another car now I'd be looking at another one of these, its sister car the Skoda Rapid or the larger Octavia or Superb.
