Renault Megane (2002 - 2008)
Dynamique 1.4 16v 3dr Hatchback
Average
I’m writing this review on behalf of my father who bought his 1.4 Petrol Megane new back in 2006. He kept the car for 3 Years and in which time he covered 38,000 miles. In this time the car didn’t have a single fault.
The only time it went back to Renault was either for servicing or when my father accidentally reversed into a low wall. However the guys at the Renault Dealer were very good and fixed this cheaply, quickly and to the best standard on the same day of the accident.
To drive the Megane was decent, and it wasn’t too uncomfortable to travel in either. Only drawback as a wolly feeling manual gear change. The interior felt decent enough, but not quite Volkswagen or Ford quality.
The Megane has a decent sized boot and decent rear passenger space.
Only drawbacks to the Megane are odd styling, mediocre mpg and fairly high tax.
Also rivals just seem more complete. For example a Golf is more comfy and has a better interior whilst a Focus sportier. Both of which just seem to be better all round cars.
There’s nothing wrong with the Megane it’s just rivals are better which is why it only earns 3/5.
My Father replaced his Megane with a used Golf TDI in 2009 and didn’t regret it - now drives a leased BMW 116d and loves that even more.
