Renault Captur (2013 - 2019)
Dynamique MediaNav ENERGY TCe 90 Stop and Start 5dr Hatchback
A great little family car with a few minor downsides
This is a very well specified car, with loads of internal space. It appears to be well built, albeit the plastics inside are not of the same quality as you see in VW or even the Korean makes. The dashboard layout is a bit odd with some switches located down by the gearbox. The only other complaint is the low speed stiff ride over sharp road imperfections - very unFrench!
However, good news is decent economy for a petrol car of this size, it will cope with long journeys with ease (it is surprisingly quiet), and the controls are easy without the steering being too light. The driving position is just right, being neither as low as a regular car nor as high as an SUV. It is a sort of MPV with a cross-over body, and works really well.
The seat covers come off so they can be washed and the boot is a reasonable size. The surprise and delight features (which can go wrong) are all working well although occasionally I have caught the stop start system out which takes a few seconds to sort. I love the auto-lock system as well.
The biggest bugbear is the dealer who supplied the car, who were a bunch of lying, incompetent toerags but that should not stop you from considering one if you need a car to nip around town, but find a typical supermini just that bit too small or uncomfortable.
