Peugeot Bipper Tepee (2009 - 2018)
Outdoor 1.3 HDi 75 Stop-Start EGC 5dr People Carrier
Reliable and fuel efficient.
My Bipper still returns 50+ mpg on urban, congested roads even with the stop-start system switched off. My local roads are fast, furious and you take your life in your hands pulling out at roundabouts so the stop-start system is too slow to cope (I get impatient drivers beeping from behind as every second counts apparently) On A roads I achieve 76mpg driving 40-50mph. Motorways, at 70mph, I acheived 63mpg and that was weighed down with a full boot. I've had no major mechanical problems apart from some juddering in 1st gear when pulling away as if the clutch is slipping. This only happens in wet weather and Peugeot could find no fault. This vehicle is easy to drive with the ESC making cornering very good with suprisingly little body roll for the size of vehicle. I drove a Ford Fiesta prior to this so that is no small praise. The driver's seat is very comfortable with good cushioning and excellent lumber support. I have driven this vehicle with sciatica, something I would not manage in a low slung car. Extras inc: large lockable aircon cooled glove box, glasses holder, driver's armrest, rechargeable magnetic boot torch (very useful in winter when refilling washer water) opera lighting, see me home headlights that can be set to three minutes, useful for us slow movers, foglights and roof bars. The view out is of course excellent but make sure you get aircon, otherwise you will fry in summer behind all the glass.
