Overall reliability

The economy is poor at 32 mpg over 50k, the cabin lokks good but reliability is poor.

I bought this car new from a dealer in 2010 and for the first 3 and a half years all was well. I then experienced a rattle from the engine on startup, I took it to a local garage who didn't have a clue. I then took it to a Peugeot dealer who asked if I had any third party warranty. It turned out to be a timing belt tensioner which had gone and would cost over £600 to fix. I have since checked on the internet and apparently it is a well known fault on this engine which is present in Peugeots Citroens and some Minis.
Since having this done I have noticed a trace of oil on the top of the engine and took it back to the dealer who said it was a fault with the rocker box cover which would need replacing at a cost of £450 or I could keep an eye on the oil and mop up the mess from time to time. I have chosen the latter alternative with a view to replacing the car when I can.
