Peugeot 207 SW (2007 - 2013)
1.6 L Diesel HDI SW
A very practical, economical and reliable friend
Over the time I have owned this car, it has never delivered less than 66 mpg. It is a bit slow off the mark, but once you are in 3rd gear, it is very lively. It pulls up hills as if they were not there. Road holding is good and comfort acceptable. The seats could be a little softer. Being an estate, it has never given problems when I needed to move things. However, rear passenger space is a bit cramped. In 76,000 miles, it has proved reliable, requiring only a new set of front discs and recently, a battery (both of which I fitted myself). My main complaints are:
Driver's wiper does not move sufficiently to the right
The so-called "Eco" mode which stops you listening to the radio for more than 25 minutes with the engine off.
Interval wiper is speed sensitive, so at speeds above 50 mph, it is virtually continuous. It is not adjustable
Wiper can be activated for a minute after the engine is turned off. The wipers park in the vertical position. Being long legged,I periodically catch the wiper stalk by accident when leaving the car. The purpose of this facility is to enable the wiper blades to be removed. Ludicrously, the blades can easily be removed from the normal parked position so this is an unnecessary facility which can not be turned off.
