MG 3 (2013 on)
1.5 Dohc VTi-TECH Exclusive Nav 5dr
Great value for money
Liked the look of the facelifted MG3 and went to look at them when it was time to change. The level of equipment is great, reversing sensors and camera, cruise control etc etc. I can't fault the paint finish or build quality at all.The seats are comforable and there is plenty of space for passengers and luggage. The best thing though is the way it drives, the handling and steering are exceptional. The clutch and gearchange are also light and precise.
Road tests say the biggest problem with the car is the engine, a larger than normal normally aspirated one as opposed to the modern small turbo engines in most new cars. I find the engine more than adequate for my needs, it pulls exceptionally well from low revs which makes for a relaxing drive in heavy traffic but has ample power in reserve when you need it. Motorway cruising is comfortable and quiet. Obviously with a fairly large engine, in todays terms, it's not going to be exceptionally economical but I am getting 40 m.p.g in town and 49 m.p.g on A roads which I find acceptable, especially due to the low purhase price of the car.
Dislikes: the heating and ventilation system is over-complicated with push buttons for flow direction but you have to look at the touchscreen to see temperature and fan speed which is distracting when on the move as the calibrations are quite small. Works well but style over substance in my opinion.
Apart from that I can't fault the car. Nice to drive something a little bit different with the bonus of a 7 year manufacturers warranty.
