Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate (2014 - 2021)
C250d 2.1 Sport Premium Auto 5dr Estate
Car with several design flaws and patchy manufacture
I had this car for 12 months, bought from a main dealer at 10k miles and sold at 16kmiles.
Comfort mode in auto results in economical, quiet, lethargic performance. Sport mode livens things up but runs in low gears for ages and results in a lot of uncivilised noise from the engine and poor economy. 5 speed auto on my previous E class, same engine, was a much better compromise.
Sport suspension sends shocks but not very sporting.
Sat Nav radio system very idiosyncratic. Changing stations is done by scrolling through them using big disc. Takes ages to go from BBCR1 to Magic FM. Takes all day to input post codes.
No spare wheel and carrying one fills the load area. If you get a puncture - good luck!
Lots of trouble with brake disks, Fronts replaced twice in quick time and rears at service. Pads hardly worn but had to be replaced. MB paid most of cost but still lost the car for 4 days.Brakes problem unresolved. Engine Management light came on 3 times. Ended up hated driving it as it vibrated every time the brakes were applied and lost trust in them. Hence sold the car - fed up!
Would not own one of these outside warrant period. 2010 E Class was vastly better car.
