Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2007 - 2014)
220 CDI Sport 4dr Saloon
It feels solid on the road
It's not the greatest interior from the cosmetic showroom standpoint but the finish has proved to be durable and easily cleaned. The outside paintwork etc is also proving to be very durable and chip resistant.
The only thing that annoys is the multi function indicator and cruise control levers being on the same side of the steering column... well the foot operated parking brake is also silly if I am totally honest. Generally the car is excellent and comfortable for long distance journeys where I get 45/47 mpg over 300 miles. I never feel tired when I get out of the car because the seats are well shaped and padded - nearly as good as a Volvo I owned 10 years ago.
The car has been trouble free from receipt and I have used it for 17,000 miles in 12 months and the trip computer advises a 41 mpg over this period. I agree with comments about the engine sounding a little agricultural, particularly when compared with BMW, but when warm and on the move it's satisfactory.
The cost of servicing via a main dealer is a little 'painful' but they do a good job.
I changed tyres at 30,000 miles from Continental Contisport to Michelin Primacy HP and find the ride to be more compliant and noise to be less - so much so my wife commented! I don't think the absolute dry grip is as good but then that is not what this car is about.
