Mazda CX-5 (2012 - 2016)
2.2D Sport Nav AWD Auto 5dr
Deteriorating with age
Purchased with 39k on the clock and it's been good for the first three years in which time I've covered 30k miles. Trying not to fall into the buyers over positive reviews, it's been ok. Handling, braking, steering all good for the type of car.
MPG was never going to get to the claimed levels but it returns 37-38mpg on mixed driving. With a lot of town use it drops to low 30's. Tyre life is good, I'm using Continentals and getting over 25k miles on a set.
The downsides have started this year as it turned 7 years old and 65k miles.
The turbo imploded which cost £2.5k to fix. The pin holding the internals dropped off but didn't do any further damage.
In September the A/C packed up, it's still not right but I'm taking the one thing at a time approach to fixing it, most likely it's a hole in the cooler, which might just be a stone but we'll see. The local specialist can't see a leak but it's going somewhere, the tracer dye was tried but no luck so far.
Most recently it appears that the head gasket has gone, lost all heating and power as the engine overheated.
Auto gearbox is starting to be a bit reluctant to change up, I've not investigated this so far, once the overheating is fixed it's going to auction so I don't have to think about it.
So a mixed bag, I'd hope a Mazda would last longer then 70k before costing this kind of money to fix but you drive the miles, get it serviced regularly and takes your chances on modern cars.
The dealer in Dorset is mostly usless, friendly but seem incapeable of fault finding so I've switched to an independent which is much better.
