Just gets better

Following up from 6th March 2018 review. Have now driven another 8000km. Fuel consumption (if driven sensibly) is above 40mpg. With a 50% mix of motorway and town driving I have seen 42mpg up-to 55mpg consistently from the trip computer. It will go up to 60mpg with very careful driving (it has gone higher with tailwinds and no traffic to interrupt your driving). I am using an app to record the litres vs mileage at fill up, I am getting 43-46mpg. For a two ton car petrol I think this is great and to be honest it really is quite close to the Lexus official fuel consumption figures. I have been contributing to Honest Johns real mpg and the app is quoting 48.66mpg average off the trip computer. I do drive the car the way that it is recommended to drive hybrids (reasonable acceleration and early braking)-even though everybody else hates you as they wear out their brakes in 20000 miles. There have been no problems with the car at all. The seats are still the best I have sat in. I have no fatigue problems or aching muscles after driving a few hours in it at a time. Space for a 6ft 5” driver is great particularly under the wheel, pedal area and headroom (my seat is fully rearward and low). There is plenty of room behind my seat for an average height person to sit. Boot space is fine, though it could be a bit deeper. Ride can be harsh on poor roads that need resurfacing and the tyres (Yokohama originals) and suspension will pick up road imperfections. On smooth tarmac roads it really is a quiet smooth ride-exactly what you expect from a Lexus. There has been no engine oil usage that I have noticed and I have never needed to top up any fluids in the engine bay. Lots of brake pad thickness left at 30000 miles. I have had one small normal service which was 250 Euros. Dealership service ( I actually used a Toyota dealership which is Lexus approved and cheaper by the way) was excellent. All in all I can’t think of a car that suits me better than this one. It is typical Lexus/Toyota. They just work with no fuss or drama. I still love the looks of it and I always turn round when I leave the car to have one last look. The paint finish (sonic white) is stunning and a much smoother finish than Mercedes or BMW cars that park next to it. Lexus paint quality really is the best (confirmed by my friend who works in a respray shop). All in all a great car and I certainly will have another. Maybe I will wait until 2021 when the brand new model is launched.
