Lexus GS (2012 - 2018)
250 Luxury 4dr Auto Saloon
Smooth, classy, quality, love it
Bought this car at 3 years old with 19k miles as an approved used from a main dealer. Ive owned for 6 months and added 7k miles. I upgraded from the previous gerneration Lexus IS as I wanted more cabin space. Pros and cons:
Pros: In a word, quality. No rattles etc from the interior. Never had any mechanical issues. Dealer service excellent. Very comfortable. Effortless cruiser. Mark Levinson stereo is excellent. Huge boot. V6 growl under hard acceleration (especially in sport mode where the induction noise is amplified). MPG (not outstanding in general terms but very good for a large car). Auto gearbox very smooth. The whole drivetrain is super smooth and refined. Nothing like as common as a 5 series or E class. Handling is good, no real body roll, sure footed with plenty of grip. Ride is good and composed on all surfaces. Did I mention the v6? I like the v6.
Cons: Lexus servicing not cheap. erm... struggling a bit here. Some road noise at high speed. Infotainment can be a bit fiddely but not as bad a some reviews seem to indicate.
Having owned 2 Lexus's i think the message is: They dont win over car journos (Honest John being a refreshing exception) but try one. German cars are not the last word in engineering. I wouldnt go back.
