Land Rover Discovery Sport (2015 on)
2.0 Si4 240 HSE Auto 5dr
Hugely practical, decent drive, let down by poor quality
Purchased my Discovery Sport MY18 DS HSE 240 Petrol in December 2017. Have one real complaint - see rear disc corrosion below - overall pleased I went with the petrol engine and avoided any DPF issues.
Over 27k miles, petrol consumption has averaged around 29 mpg which was in line with my expectations so no complaints there.
The infotainment system was the only real let down, as given I stuck with the standard 8” screen, no update to Apple CarPlay was possible. I knew it wasn’t great when I purchased the vehicle, and that proved to be the case living with it day in day out. Not good enough on a vehicle just short of £50k.
One of the surround cameras was replaced after 12 months under warranty but other than that it’s been largely trouble free motoring. I’ve recently had to replace the rear discs due to corrosion and even though the corrosion had been noted at 12 and 24 month services JLR declined to offer a gesture of goodwill as they're happy that their discs last less than three years and 26k miles - be warned!
A hugely practical vehicle, comfortable and an enjoyable drive but let down by poor quality and a manufacturer who doesn’t really care about the end customer. If you can find a dealer who’s prepared to fight your cause then great, else prepare to be disappointed.
