Kia Sportage (2016 - 2021)
1.7 CRDi 139bhp 3 ISG DCT Auto 5dr SUV
Nice to drive & be in
I have now driven 1000 miles, the seats are comfortable & the driving position good but reversing vision not good, alleviated by reversing camera.
It's a pity that Kia don't offer a wheel size option as the 19 inch 245x45 tyres give not the best ride on out poor road surfaces but the comfortable seats make this model better than the previous Sportage.
The DCT transmission is smooth and as a retired engineer, I "manage it" which means I sometimes use the manual selector to force it into the proper gear or neutral as appropriate due to living a hilly part of the country. I also stop the economy feature switching off the engine (by shifter to neutral & foot off brake, handbrake on) when stopped after a fast run (motorway etc) to. Prevent turbo damage by keeping the engine running &thus oil circulating to the turbo bearings.
The cabin & boot are very roomy with room for 5 adults & luggage. The 4 heated seats with 3 settings a good in cold weather.
Back seats folded gives a very large & usable & almost flat load space & the boot floor can be lowered for more space.
The door mirrors can be switched to fold manually or automatically when you lock the car so at a glance you can see if its locked.
The mpg is not great at present as the car is only just run-in & I have done a few short journeys, on a recent run of 50 ish miles each way across hilly Derbyshire I got 46mpg so expect things to improve, I also use premium Shell, Esso or BP diesel.
This is my second Sportage so I made my choice because it was a good car & the Kia Dealership in Dukinfield, Hyde, Cheshire proved to be excellent. I believe that a good dealership has a major impact on the car owning experience.
No car is perfect & people have different requirements, I like the car & am satisfied with my purchase as well as the 3 year servicing built in the price & the 7 year warranty.
