A lot of car for your money - build quality and dealership service is poor!

Had my Kia Soul 2 for two months, from Kia dealership used as demonstrator until the day I brought it.

Style, features and space are excellent with ample space for 5 people and drives perfectly on motorways and a-roads.

Unfortunately problems started the day after picking up the car, having checked the service manual Kia had missed the service schedule on the vehicle and are still unable to tell me if the warrantee will be affected. The air conditioning has stopped working along with the windscreen washers front and back, and chrome and alloy wheels are showing signs of peeling and corrosion on a three year old vehicle!

My local Kia dealership have kept putting off assessing the problems and have only taken the vehicle in after 8 weeks claiming they need to take photos to 'verify' with Kia that the problems even exist!

Using the car for every day commuting I have only managed 25mpg on the 1.6 petrol engine off the motorway well below published figures. The car really needs a six speed gearbox as the five speeds ratios are off, going up hill requires second gear at 4000rpm to do 30mph or third gear at 1200rpm which feels like it will stall any minute.

A real shame as the vehicle is a perfect cheaper alternative to a family car for 'super mini' money, this is also reflected in the low insurance costs.

Having looked at the 2012 spec a lot of the problems mentioned above may have been resolved, but by with care as my Soul is very much style over substance.
