Kia Rio (2011 - 2017)
3 1.4 107 ISG 5dr Hatchback
Hi spec low build quality
On paper this car seemed like good value for money. I went for the top spec model with diesel engine all singing all dancing at £15k. The handbrake failed to hold the car on even a slight slope and came out one morning to find the car parked in my front gate. Within weeks the drivers seat sank and I was left sitting on a hard metal guard, no comfy when you spend 10hrs a day in your car. The seat was ordered but as with so many Kia parts there is no UK stock so we waited for 2 months for the slow boat from Korea to arrive. When they tried to fit they found they had sent the wrong one! I was told 2 months to get another in but the dealer obtained a whole new car removed the seat and fitted in my car. This lasted 6 miles! I switched on the heated seat and down it went, same problem.
Kia then refused to help any more with the problem and in their words 'washed their hands of me'. The dealer explained Kia had told them that if I rejected the car they would throw all their lawyers at me and drag the fight out for as long as possible as they did not want to admit a fault with the car.
I did reject the car but came to a deal with the dealership.
Other aspects of the car are also greatly lacking, the ride is harsh and steering vague. The controls feel flimsy and there is a very annoying auto demist that suddenly switches the air con on freezing you half to death and scares the life out of you as the fan comes on full pelt with no warning.
The claim MPG is no where near what is obtainable and I believe that they have been sued in the USA for these false claims.
Over all if you have a barge pole don't even touch it with that, I have owned over 30 cars and this is the worst to date.
