Kia Carens (2013 - 2018)
1.6 GDI 133hp 1 ISG 5dr
Spacious, comfortable and reliable.
I bought this car new in 2015 and it has now done 70,000 miles. We have occasional need of a people carrier for the extended family, but most of the time there are only one or two in the car, and the Carens is a reasonable compromise, having lots of internal space without being unduly large or unwieldy to drive and park. I have the base model, but it is very well specified; the only feature I added were parking sensors at front and rear.
Particular points are:-
1. The middle and rear seats all fold very easily, leaving a flat floor, and the middle row seats are adjustable for position and tilt.
2. It feels safe and predictable, and is smooth and quiet at motorway speeds. The petrol engine lacks torque, which means gear changing on hills, but there is adequate power for overtaking. Indicated fuel consumption is usually over 40mpg, but I think the display is optimistic.
3. It has been reliable, and I have not had any faults, breakdowns or warranty issues. Overall, it appears solid and well made.
Overall, we have been very happy with the car, and will keep it for the time being.
