Hyundai i20 (2015 - 2020)
1.0 T-GDi 120ps Premium SE Nav 5dr
My wife calls it a mini Passat
I downsized from a Passat Estate diesel, as 4000 miles a year ruins diesels. I was looking for a car that my wife would drive, but had the features I was used to in the Passat and at a sensible price.
I narrowed my choice to a Premium Nav SE model, 1.0 so that I had the panoramic roof, heated sets, auto aircon, satnav etc. built in and apparantly 120 BHP with about 120 Torque.
The fuel economy is disappointing in my opinion. However the comfort and general performance & handling is sound. It lacks the promised BHP / Torque which is noticeable on (French) Motorways where it runs out of steam on some of the steeper slopes - to be fair 3 adults and luggage and I really miss the power & fuel economy I enjoyed with my Mondeo & Passat diesels on these 700 mile runs.
However the fact that we contemplate & can do 700 mile journeys in one day says a lot about the car.
We have had trouble with the cruise control, which is really frustaring in long journeys; of course the dealer is unable to identify the root of the problem.
Noisy rear wiper motor temporarily fixed by dealer lubricating it.
When I bought the car secondhand it had remainder of 5 year service plan, so my out of pocket expenses have been limited to two tyres; therefore I cannot judge maintenance & repair costs.
