Honda CR-Z (2010 - 2015)
1.5i V-TEC Sport 3dr Coupe
Interesting, economic and fun to drive
Only just run in when revs usually kept above 1500 rpm but in mixture of town & rural road driving obtaining 45mpg. Expect to get 50mpg after fully run in & then change up when computer advises to get more benefit from AMI system.
Car is delight to drive, very comfortable seat/driving position, instruments & controlls well laid out as HJ mentions. Well placed digital speedometer is particulaly welcome in these days of speed cameras. Good overtaking performance in Sport mode which can be instantly selected as required.
Stop Start works well, engine restarts very quickly as gear is being selected not when clutch pushed down as HJ states. Engine stops when neutral selected at less than 9 mph so can coast to stop then no need to keep foot on brake pedal, just engage handbrake. In Normal mode the Stop Start does not work if large difference between selected cabin temperature & outside ambient temperature. To maximise use of Stop Start then Econ mode should be selected. If required the Stop Start may be overiden by lightly pressing the brake pedal a couple of times.
Only critism is that of road noise at speed which also applies to new Jazz.
