2.0 TDCi (140ps) Titanium 5dr Hatchback

I bought my 08 plate Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Titanium in late January 2011 from my local Ford dealer having traded in a Jaguar S Type 2.7d SE. Initially I was a bit skeptical moving from the 208ps of the Jag to the 140ps of the Ford but I needed have worried, In real driving terms the Ford felt only marginally slower than the Big Cat it replaced. It was very roomy and comfortable and being a Titanium had a decent level of equipment although I was surprised though to find it didn't have bluetooth connection however it did have a Sony 6 CD changer, dual climate control and electric seat height adjustment and the rear privacy glass looked very smart. The boot was absolutely huge and during a house move with the rear seats folded I used the car like a pick up truck such was its boot capacity. Before I opted for the Mondeo I test drove a VX Insignia and where it was ok the offering from Ford was far superior in every way I felt.

On the motorway driving at 70mph on the cruise control the car regularly returned well over 50mpg and should I desired to sink the boot it could fairly shift along. In the two years I owned it I had to MOT it and gave it one big service, that aside it gave no trouble whatsoever. I reluctantly parted company with this car as my wife felt due to our rural location we should buy a 4x4 so in came a Kia Sportage which was the most costly automotive mistake ever, I hated it and it has since been traded in for ...............yes you have guessed it............Another Mondeo!!! The only criticism I could find about this excellent car was the Ford Convers+ instrument panel consisted of the fuel and temp guage sat at the base of the speedo which I thought could have been better placed and the left hand indicator tell tale light was smothered by the speedo needle at 70mph although both these points have been addressed on the current model.

An absolutely cracking car which I reckon is by far the best in its class and beyond. It has generous equipment levels, an economical reasonably refined torquey engine, great ride and roadholding and more space inside than you would ever need in a car. When it was washed and polished it looked great sitting on my driveway and always gave me a sense of pride it looked so good. After it went my wife asked me do you still miss your Mondeo? Answer, ' Only when I have to drive somewhere darling!!!. If you are looking for a good family saloon you really cannot go better than the Mondeo, it is the car to be reckoned with.
