Ford Mondeo (2007 - 2015)
2.0 TDCi (140ps) Zetec 5dr
Average
Mondeo is good to drive. Spacious, comfortable. Zetec model is mid range and has plenty of kit for me.
Not a bad looking car inside and out. I like the look in black metallic.
2.0 TDCi does anything between 40 - 50 mpg with decent performance.
Reliability - average. Nowadays that means the odd expensive bill. Clutch and flywheel being the worst. Not an unreliable car, but certainly not without its issues. Had some electrical faults as well, luckily I know a good local auto-electrician who helped me out. Car is on 100K miles now. Not exactly high mileage these days for a ten year old car. Just expected it to hold up a bit better. Bought used, but had full history and appeared looked after.
So overall not a bad car just expensive to fix when it does go wrong, and to be honest this Mondeo is no better than the Vauxhall Insignia or Toyota Avensis (I can comment as I used to drive both) but they are all similar these days. Aim to buy a looked after example buying used and do not pay too much for one - there are way too many overpriced cars out there.
