Ford Grand C-MAX (2010 - 2019)
Titanium 1.6 TDCi 5dr People Carrier
well built,economical roomy and modern.
Bought this grand cmax titanium new to replace a vw golf 1.4tsi and first two weeks impressions have been very favourable. Its very roomy and well built almost on a par with vw build. The sliding rear doors are a great idea in car parks with kids getting in and out and the way the middle passenger seat hides under one of the other seats when not needed thus allowing a walk through to the back two seats is another excellent idea.
I love the sony radio which gives out superb clarity from the speakers. Some things which I find hard to warm to are the keyless system which although a fine idea in principle allowing you to start the car as long as the key is with you in your pocket etc is for an old timer like myself a little too advanced as I keep looking to put the key into the ignition switch which isnt there when I get into the car and taking it out again when I stop.I did find it amusing however that ford has a "ford power button" to start the engine now when the ford prefect I had 40 years ago had a knob you pulled to start the engine!
One other thing I find irritating with the radio/phone set up is the "voice activated" controls which no matter how many times I try to use them always ends up with the ladys voice telling me "sorry repeat please" before I lose patience and tune the radio by hand or stop to make a phone call.Perhaps its my accent it cant understand but I had a far simpler system in the vw golf with a touchscreen where you just brought up the name/number you wanted and touched the screen with no annoying voice.
But overall im very pleased with my purchase, its very quiet for a diesel, handles very well and seems likely to last well.
