Ford Fusion (2002 - 2012)
1.4 TDCI
Amazingly low fuel consumption
Hi, I've reviewed the Fusion before, but have just bought our 4th one now which is a 1.4 TDCI with 4411 on the clock at about 27 months old. Performance can be remarkably good when required, this is not sluggard and she does 70 quietly and with ease and comfort on the motorway. The main point of this review is to tell of the amazing fuel consumption - driving through North London to work I can get 57mpg average, with 73 mpg on a motorway run. Combined with cheap insurance, and a fantastic £30 road tax per year, this car is dead cheap to run long term. Had a month now, no problems as yet, tho we found the power steering fluid for this model is the rarer "green" variety, whereas my wife's 2008/58 Fusion has the more common red fluid. If you have this, and at first it looks clear not green, it seems you should only use the Ford produced top up fluid, and not mix red or any other brand into the fluid reservoir else you can cause some damage to the system. Ford sell a litre for a reasonable amount from their parts dept. Again, big thanks to the Edgware branch of Dagenham Ford service department for being just brilliant.
