Ford Focus (2011 - 2014)
1.6TDCi Titanium
Pretty Impressive so far but not as economical as hoped
Bought the car about 6wks ago from a National Car Supermarket. Car was in good condition with under 11K on the clock.
Good: Reasonable fuel economy of c49.5mpg which has been completed mainly in town driving and has involved a number of icy starts and congestion. Start/Stop works superbly when warm enough. Car is a lovely drive, handling far better than the Leon I owned prior to this. Not massively powerful but certainly adequate for day-to-day driving and up with the pace on the motorway. Comfortable cabin with all seats nicely shaped. I have had no problems (yet!) with the gadgets and the car feels nicely put together, safe and assured.
Bad: As others have mentioned - the boot is much smaller and less useable then I thought. Alloys are a nightmare to clean. Paint appears to be the thinnest imaginable and the car has suffered greatly from stone chips despite low age/mileage. Rear drum brakes were a massive surprise but no issues so far. Depreciation a worry.
Overall: Happy with the car - I test drove and researched a number of cars in the class including Leon, Golf and Astra and I think the Focus is the best of that bunch. Brief ownership so far so we'll see what happens in the next few months.
