Ford Focus (2011 - 2014)
Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI Titanium
Nice looking, goes well, but has flaws
My car has been back to the dealer a few times too. The first thing was the lack of power and kangarooing in first and second gears. Apparently this is a common fault to do with the fuel pump which needs resetting and is being modified on all future Focus'.
The second (which is an ongoing problem) is the fuel consumption which i am really disappointed with. I can only achieve 39-41 mpg (less than a petrol model). It doesn't seem to matter how i drive the car, that's the best i get. I do a lot of motorway driving and bought the car for the fuel economy. So far all i get from Fords is that it will get better after 6000 miles? Surely it should be perfect from day 1? Should i not have been told about the 6000 mile c*** before buying the car?
The third thing is that i had a sunroof in mine, but it leaks when it rains. The first time it went back in for this, they told me it was something to do with the overflow? It still leaks though.
I don't know about other people with this car, but i can't seem to get a comfortable driving position which is fairly important when you do a lot of mileage? I'm not a tall person and i certainly don't like sitting too close to the steering wheel, but every time i touch the brake, my knee hits the steering column.
The other thing i don't like is the steering lock, or lack of. When you get the car to park itself, it seems to fly the wheel round and get into a space, but you try doing that manually to get into a parking space or turn out of a tight spot.... no chance.
It probably seems that i haven't got a good word to say about the car, well, to be honest, I'm not impressed so far other than it is a nice looking motor and does go well.
