Ford Fiesta (2013 - 2017)
1.0 80ps Titanium Start+Stop 5dr
Brilliant!
I honestly believe that this is the best car I have ever owned!
I bought the car at 3 months old with 3000 miles on the clock. the dealer said it was a 'management car'. b******s, it was a renter and had reached the max mileage they can do before they need to turn it in. Still, £7000 off list for a new one, right colour, right spec, I would have been daft not to buy it. One scratched alloy was repaired by the dealer and then it was mine.
Warranty issues? The automatic windscreen wiper function was slow and this was traced to a defective sensor.
Servicing was reasonable and carried out by a Ford garage. The mileage is now 36000, not massive but reasonable for a five year old car.
I had a rear spring replaced under the extended warranty (£200 for the year and paid monthly) in October but apart from routine services and a couple of continental tyres replaced, no big bills.
I have owned numerous cars from Escort mk1's to a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera and as a Police Traffic Officer, driven everything from Granada's to Volvo T5 estates and with some of them, have felt disappointed that in some ways, they never live up to the hype.
A fiesta on the other hand, doesn't have to prove anything. It handles like it's on rails.(cliché alert) but true!
No vehicle has given me such a feeling of utter reliability, combined with practicality, fuel efficiency and pure driving pleasure, as this 999cc pocket rocket. Best car I have ever owned.
Within the next ten years, you will not have the opportunity to drive a car like this. Your freedoms will be continually eroded by 'Lockdowns' and 'Special measures' and 'Tier levels' until one day, you will realise that everything you took for granted is gone and you willingly gave it away.
