Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008)
Zetec 1.4 TDCi 5dr Hatchback
Economical Hatch
Bought this car as my eldest’s first car due to low running costs and being a solid car to drive.
It was bought at around 95.000 miles and went until it was sold at 125.000 miles and got there almost trouble free (a fuse went and new part of the exhaust as well as rubber bushes) as well as usual servicing at my local Specialist.
Have had the same economical 1400cc Pug unit in a 206, it is not very powerful, but has decent amount of torque so is nippy enough in town. Love the occasional drives I got in the little Fezzi. Plus it was £30 to tax annually and always got above 50 miles-per-gallon of diesel.
The interior was comfy enough for a car of this class, plastics felt cheap but no worse than Clio/Corsa of same age.
Generally I have always been a Clio fan, having owned two 1500cc diesels (53 plate and 06 plate), they were cracking!
But I have to say, the Fiesta was just as good as the Renaults and much better than the Corsas I have owned.
However, I have to say the newer shape does feel like a big improvement over this generation. My wife has a 2009 1600cc diesel and it is a much nicer car both to look at and be in.
Still, at the price these are at now, you cannot go wrong. So I would recommend the Ford Fiesta to a friend
