Loving Effie the Electric Fiat
I had a petrol 500 Sport model for 6 years and decided to trade it in for an electric model, having seen reviews in the motoring press. I went for the Passion model as I preferred the look of the wheels - the alloys on the top of the range models looked out of proportion. I test drove one and was hooked! The acceleration is brilliant, it is so easy to drive (like a go-kart, the salesman said) and the roadholding is brilliant too. There is quite a limited choice of colours; I went for "glacier blue" which is a kind of sea greeny/blue. It is also available in a bronzey-pink shade which I thought of having, but was persuaded otherwise! I went for the larger battery option, which gives around 170 miles on a charge. Like some automatics, it doesn't have a gear stick, but simply a row of switches to engage D, R, N or P. There is also a handbrake switch conveniently placed. There is not much room in the back, but I rarely have more than one passenger, so not really an issue. My only slight negative is that the large wing mirrors (particularly on the driver's side) mask the view of, say, traffic joining from the right at a mini roundabout. Other than that, I am delighted with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish city car.
