BMW Z4 (2003 - 2009)
BMW 2.0i SE
Grand Tourer
Bought this car to get away from the usual boxes and haven't been disappointed the car was 7.5 yrs and 55K mls old when I got it nearly 18 mth ago but we have had really good service it drives perfectly the wife and I love it,the only downside to a 2 seater is when you would like to provide a lift for other passengers and cant !
I find the car so much better in virtually all areas than the same 56 reg MX5 I bought new before this, room, ride/handling, NVH, gearchange even MPG and especially the boot size, the BMW was more expensive new of course to be fair.
I think this 2 Litre engine was a recent addition to the range at the time and coupled to the new 6 speed box is very relaxed and economical.
Really like the uncluttered dashboard and interior, surprisingly nice to have AC in a convertible because its not all open motoring.I like the powered top and its an easy job to get under the car and make sure the drain holes are clear to protect the roof motor from water.
Informed my insurance company and got rid of the runflat rubber bricks, instantly quieter, smoother, better steering (the tramlining and what appears to be aquaplaning through modest puddles can really catch you out) plus another 3 MPG, up to an indicated 42 plus. The Z4 will be hard to replace, not keen on the E89 with the folding hardtop. PS.as an added bonus they don't appear to depreciate at this age.
