Too hard a ride

Bought from Rybrook in Shrewsbury (which has not impressed me regarding the post sales service). I like the look of the car and the quality of the interior. However, for the roads where I live in Mid-Wales the ride is too firm and, in my view, uncomfortable. Every bump is felt. I drove the new Honda CRV yesterday and took the car over the same rough roads and speed bumps I usually experience and it was very comfortable - so much so that having gone back into my X5 I am now thinking of selling it. Engine noise is excellent but road noise levels are reasonable only and not exactly hushed. The handling is superb. The fuel consumption, lousy. I fell for the BMW claimed figure of around 38mpg and only get 28mpg. BMW servicing costs are too high, although there are third-party websites which will arrange the services in a BMW garage for considerably less than the dealers own prices - and the service is exactly the same including car collection and delivery. The boot does not easily accommodate two golf bags and two electric trolleys - the kit has to be positioned so that everything fits in a certain way and the bags have to go top-to-toe, as it were, on top of the trolleys and with the drivers taken out of the bag first (was pleased to see yesterday on testing the CRV that the golf kit just fell in to the boot with ease). The boot is also high off the ground resulting in a stretch to access the very back of it. The SatNav is a bit clumsy. So, great-looking car, wonderful road holding but I have no short to medium term intention of buying another BMW.
