BMW X1 (2009 - 2015)
xDrive 18d SE 143 5dr SUV
Should have kept my 2004 320D estate!
There's not been any snow where i live since we bought the car to test it's AWD credentials! Something went wrong with the gearbox/clutch in 2013, it was just out of warranty although BMW did repair it free of charge in any case. Now (February 2017) at 66,000 miles the transfer box needs replaced according to BMW, they quoted me a hefty £3900.00 to fix AND also suggested i replace the nearly new tyres with brand new BMW star rated tyres. I read in another forum that the xfer box fluid needs either replaced or topped up right about where we're at mileage wise...nobody from BMW told me this. Both rear wheel bearings were replaced (MOT failure in 2016). Fair to say there's been a certain amount of hassle with the vehicle that i wasnt aware of. I wouldnt opt for AWD xdrive version if i were to buy another one or another BMW in xdrive, just get some winter tyres when the temp drops. Interior has worn well with our toddler and dog trying their best to destory. Heavy on the steering my wife says. Poor turning circle.
