Found a very high spec car, with many extras. Wondered at the interior quality and refined ride quality, even on 19” runflats. At £19k, it was fantastic value.
That was what my brain was telling me, but after a few weeks, I couldn’t overcome the feeling that I’d bought the wrong car. The main problem for me was engine refinement. The engine was very quiet when up to speed, but every time I pulled away, all I could think was London black cab. Don’t get me wrong, the performance is more than sufficient, but I couldn’t stand the sound of it. You will also struggle to achieve anything like the quoted fuel economy figures. Best I saw was 45mog on a long run.
Another niggle is the lack of passenger space. I’m 6’3” and my similarly sized son could not sit behind me. It’s a huge car with an oversized boot and engine compartment, so why not use more of it for passenger space?. Found it a pain to park too. And the one shopping bag hook in the boot appeared to be made from recycled toy soldiers. About as much use as a chocolate teapot.
Eventually sold it last week.
Going to enjoy running around in my wife’s 3 cylinder Fiesta for a few months, until the used car market calms down a bit. It’s got a cramped, low rent interior, but it’s still more fun to drive than a 520D.
