Surprisingly reliable so far

They say everyone should own an Alfa Romeo once. As I drove over to the Honda dealer with a view to changing my wife’s Jazz, I found the Giulietta sitting on the forecourt, at a decent price, low mileage and 12 months Honda approved warranty. Having just taken early retirement I thought, why not? I’ve done about 15000 trouble free miles since.
It drives well, the DNA system that changes the throttle response steering weight etc is a good idea, but whilst I like the steering and handling in Dynamic ( sport) mode, the throttle response is too fierce for me ( and I wonder about the effect on the DMF). I like the looks, I like the dials that go to max when you start up, and the fact they are labelled “aqua“, “giri”, and disappointingly “diesel“ ( bit sad) . I like the fact that there aren’t that many. Fuel economy is good, 48 on rural roads 55 on longer runs. Bad points, the dash has an irritating rattle, and the rear seats don’t fold flat. Its not that roomy in the back but with just 2 of us it’s fine for holidays, and I certainly enjoyed the North Coast 500 in it. After years of practical cars it’s been a bit of fun, I miss not having an estate, if only Alfa did one I might make that my next car
