Hot Renault Twingo GT fires into Goodwood

The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016 will see the debut of the Renault Twingo GT - a 110PS hot hatch that’s coming to UK showrooms this winter, likely costing around £16,000.

The best thing is that it’s rear-wheel drive, putting it in a category of its own and giving it, in theory at least, the sort of handling balance that no other small hot hatch can attain; Renault is already calling the car “genre-busting.”

The Twingo GT will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but Renault hasn’t said whether it will take to the famous hill climb. Nor do we know any details of the engine, aside from that it’s “tuned” to produce its 110PS, which suggests it’ll be the same three-cylinder turbo unit found in the rest of the range. 

We are told that the Twingo GT will have stiffened suspension, variable rate steering and a manual gearbox that’s been revised over the standard Twingo’s.
