How much would a replacement PHEV battery cost?

My wife needs to make bi-monthly 500+ mile return journeys and does not like the idea of being dependent on public chargers so cannot be persuaded to use an EV. A PHEV can be used for both long journeys and the many more 80 mile journeys that we do every week. Unfortunately it needs to be large, ideally XC90, which will have to be a high mileage second hand to get the price down. Is there any means to analyse the range capacity of the drive battery and how much would a replacement cost?

Depending on the make and model of the vehicle, you can determine the state of health of the battery from the information displays in the vehicle, but for a more comprehensive understanding you need a diagnostic check which can provide the battery's health as a percentage, which when new would be 100%. Replacing a hybrid drive battery will also depend on the make and model of the vehicle. You would need to find an electric vehicle specialist able to carry out the work, but expect it to cost several thousand pounds.
