Mazda 6 2.2d - mazda 6 2.2d dpf regeneration time and distance - nik45

Hi, how long does it take for a mazda 6 2.2diesel to regenerate the dpf. I do 22 miles a day to and bck from work, mostly around town. In total i do about 140miles a week.

Will this be enough to keep the DPF issue at bay.

I really do like the Mazda 2.2d 2009, and i am thinking of buying one with 68k on the clock.

they resonably priced and look excellent.

also how bad are the mazda 2.2d dpf problems?

Please advise

Thanks

140 miles per week is petrol territory!

Mazda have pretty much ironed out their DPF issues so a 2009 model should be fine, but do consider whether you will get enough blasts on the motorway/A roads to kick the DPF into its regen cycle. Economically, it might just be worth looking at a petrol. Also 68k is quite high mileage for a car that is only just 4 years old, which shows you that someone has done 'diesel' mileage in it and might be getting shot of it before it's knackered.

hi, thanks for you opinion, petrol is an option, but its very dificult to find a petrol car at the correct price and spec, i miss the torque, But the reality is that there is a real difference between the cost of running a diesel car, and a petrol car. as for the mileage, its only works out at 12k per annum, which isnt really high.

Thank you

68k miles divided by 3.5 years is over 19k p.a. and 68k divided by 4 years is 17k p.a.

I recall reading that Mazda had revised its DPF implementation on the 2.2 engines for less frequent regenerations and better economy, which seemed to me to be a tacit admission that they got it wrong previously.

I have no experience with Mazdas, but neither my previous Mondeo IV nor current Volvo have had any DPF problems, and my commute is only 4 miles each way (i.e. 8 miles total per day). It's frequently 2 to 3 weeks before the car gets a run of more than 10 miles on open roads.

thats good news, my journey takes around 35-40 minsone way. I personally think this will be long enough for DPF regenerate. just need more convincing i supose about the mazda 6 2.2d
