Hi all.
Long story short.........
Im trying to set up a landscape gardening business so i purchased the van from a garage 3 months ago. Its been on the road about 6-8 weeks but not everyday.
In the past 3 weeks the oil cooler fell off, power steering pump failed and the turbo failed last week. Its going to an expensive job to get the van fully repaired because of the turbo. I wasnt to fussed about the oil cooler and p/s pump as they are easily fixed but when the turbo blew i knew i had been duped due to the limited running of the van. Im sure its the bearings that have failed but not 100%. The turbo makes a grating noise and huge plumes of blue/grey smoke from the exhaust.
The garage in question has told me to f##k off and they dont care. What they did say was, "we will come and drop you another one and you can pay for it" YEAH RIGHT.
I contacted Trading Standards they say i have a case against them as the vehicle was not in a satisfactory condition and not fit for its purpose but i need to show this.
Im gathering as much evidence i can to reclaim my money back from them. I have researched the turbo but i wont say what i have found out as not to sway opinions but the more info i get will be good.
I also have an independent mechanic coming to check the vehicle over.
What i need to know is..
How reliable is the turbo?
Causes of bearing failure (if this is the case)
How reliable is the p/s pump?
Causes of failure?
Have the oil coolers know to fall off?
Thanks everyone.
