What should we replace our family MPV with?

We have an 18 plate 1.4 Petrol VW Sharan which has done just over 96K miles. We bought it as an ex demo, so it was loaded with extras. As it is approaching 100,000 miles, I wondered if we should trade it in before it hits that milestone. Would this significantly impact the car value?

If we are looking at a replacement (probably a nearly new vehicle), seeing as the Sharan is discontinued and there has been a move away from MPV’s, what would be a good replacement? We have liked the 7 seater flexibility particularly in terms of the size of boot space when the second row is folded down. The car would be used daily on shorter trips and longer trips once or twice a month. We are not keen on a fully electric car (because of our longer distance travelling) but would be prepared to consider a hybrid as well as petrol cars.

Crossing the 100,000 mile barrier is more of a psychological milestone than a financial one, so it won't be worth significantly less if you pass 100,000 miles. If it is in good condition and has been well serviced, there is no reason why it can't go on for another 50,000 miles or more.

If you do wish to change for a newer car you can read our guide to the best seven-seater vehicles here - www.honestjohn.co.uk/guides/best-7-seater-cars/ While MPVs are no longer widely available, you can still buy the Touran new, so finding a nearly new example should be relatively easy.
