Need to replace the rear brake pads on my car? Seen some mintex ones on sale at a good price at local motor factors but they appear to be 'tapered' till halt way through the thickness.

Will this initial top 50% of the pads have the same stopping power as other makes of brake pad or less until they wear down to the 'thicker' part?

And won't the top 50% percent of the pad wear quickly cos the top surface length is shorter? and therefore are they not such a good buy?
