Honda Civic 1.4 - Input Shaft Bearing - jimmyeast

I purchased a Honda Civic 1.4 Imagine (2003) last year with only 32000 varified miles on the clock but soon realised the car had (as is so prevalent with these models) a worn Input shaft bearing. Ive paid out to replace the bearing (£400!) and this seems to have rectified the problem. The main concern i have now is if there is any way i can avoid this happening again? Heard the bearing can fail again within a few thousand miles!?!

Should i just sell the car which seems a shame as they are so reliable, or would some kind of friction reducing oil like zx1 help keep the tranmission going?

Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Honda Civic 1.4 - Input Shaft Bearing - Honda Civic

I seem to have the same problem. Bought a used Honda Civic 2001 1.4 Petrol engine 8 months ago from a local dealer and it had only 37k miles on it. Now I am facing this Input Shaft Bearing problem since the last 10 days and there is noise in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears when i accelerate.

I need your help in terms of how and where did you get this job done and part replaced in 400 quids.

Thanks in advance.

The Jazz was covered in car mechanics a few months ago. I seem to recall a specialist in Leeds area who was good at doing the gearboxes.

Honda did change some under warranty but ours went faulty later on. We traded the car in instead!
