hi , please can anyone help me

had my car for bout 2 months now , i wanted to downsize for cheaper tax n insurance etc , and i made a stupid mistake by swapping this car for my focus ghia 2.0 , the guy that swapped is a best friends partner and did lots of replacement stuff on the peugeot before handing it over to me

the car is really doin my head in now , it simply cuts out everytime i turn the engine on for the first time after entering the car , it also is using alot of petrol to say it's only a 1.4 engine around 30 pounds a week petrol which is same as i was putting in the focus 2.0

it works fine once i restart the engine and as soon as i stop and turn engine off , the same thing happens again , even if i have left car for 2 mins to pop into shop , which seems silly as the engine would still be warm , so don't think it's a cold start error

it's had new battery , plugs , had full service , filter replacement

p.s is it me or are the peugeots slow cars ??

BIG mistake swapping but i'm stuck with this car now

need to check all the vacum pipes ! this is very important & if one has a very small leak it will make it use more fuel & stall. Stepper motor is the 2nd most common issue.

1.4 306 not that ecomomical

hi,

First step :You must clean the trothle body and also the stepper motor.

The stepper motor controls the input of air thru the "pin". This "pin" moves forward and back every time you turn on/off the engine. What happened in my car (1 week ago) it was the same. It cutting out every time i stopped at junctions, lights, etc... I thougt that was the stepper motor but I buyed a new one and the problem still there. pray attention when you turn off the engine. Listen if the stepper motor make some noise about 25 sec after you turn off the engine. This noise is the "pin" moving forward.....

Release the stepper motor from the trothle body and ajust the "pin" manualy ( the pin should move inside the stepper motor). Connect again the stepper motor and conect the wires. Turn on the engine... the rpm's should be high but the ECU will ajust it to about 900 rpm.

Next step... unplug the wires that are connected to the stepper motor, other wise the ECU will demand new orders to the stepper motor after you turn off the engine!! ( the "pin" will move forward again and cuts the air flow).

I did that and now the car its pretty good.

hi thnx for replying ,

can you tell me if these jobs are gunna be expensive ? i not really like this car much anymore , seems too slow to me , in lower gears 2nd n 3rd the pulling power is rubbish , but hopefully if i spend money correcting both pipes and stepper motor it will work better.

i know having owned a 2.0 focus ghia , the pulling power was great and know when i exchanged car for a 1.4 peugeot the performance wouldn't be as good , but i have also driven my friends 1.2 peugeot and it seems faster and more pulling power than mine , so i know something not adding up here
