Driving License Mandate Question - Imagos

I've been asked to fill in a driving license mandate from my employer so they can check through a third party my driving license status. Seems to be all the rage at the moment with employers and company drivers at the moment apparently..

Although i have no points on my license and nothing appears in the endorsment section on the paper part, i did have 2 speeding convictions in 1986 and 1989. (nothing since!)

My question is will these old offences show up on the mandate? or will it come back nice and clean like the paper part on my license.

Many thanks! (and it's good to be back in the backroom!)

Driving License Mandate Question - Dwight Van Driver

In the old days there used to be a specific offence of employing an unlicensed driver.

This was changed and in the 1988 RTA to an offence of cvause or permit an unlicvensed driver.

Which is why employers want details of the validity of Licences held by their workers.

If the points are sepnt and removed from the Licence then i doubt these would show up.

Why can't your employer inspect your licence themselves! They must have money to spare if they are going pay someone to do something they can do for themselves in 5 minutes! I had to show my employer my insurance certificate the other day in connection the cover for the use of my car and it didn't take long or cost anything!

It is usually for fleet operators and driver agencies who need to keep track of large numbers of employees. They obtain the info direct form the DVLA so points not applied show up and most of them run monitoring services which means new points and offences are notified as they are added.

In this case the OP's points are long spent and cannot be referred to but points count for insurance purposes for six years so it is possible that the licence could appear clean (as it is in terms of the penalty) once the points can legally be removed (after 4 years) but still invalidate a corporate insurance policy.
