94 1.3 Wanted : Cross over Break-Linkage !!! - e-beo
Hi, in writing from Germany...

I want to switch my Custom Projekt to right hand drive...switching steering wheel,gas-&clutch-pedal is not the problem - i can't move the Master Breake Cylinder to the right side cause the is not enough space...
I'm looking for a Break-Linkage like in the VW Golf 1... the Master Cylinder in the Golf1 is also on the left side... I think many models have such a linkage (you will know that better than me...) & I also think the Break-Linkages are not very popular/ much asked for - so they won't be expensive...... im looking for a simple but strong bolt-on linkage of a right hand drive car with the master cylinder on the left side... surely i have to customise this linkage because my custom projekt was never sold in a right hand drive version - its a Renault Twingo...
I hope someone can help me, give me a hint or whatever...
...to big and bulky is not the problem - what does not fit is made to fit !

has anyone got a picture of such a linkage ?
Any Clues for a good general UK-Car-forum ???
maybe someone knows a small bolt on version of such a "brake linkage cross shaft" or whatever the right word for the thing is ....

I'm sure much of anyone's prices for selling the part would be for time taken to remove it....
Sincerely Sascha Smile

Sorry for my rusty old school english

Use one from a Clio or Laguna.

Er...this one maybe ?

No worries about the English, a higher standard than some native speakers seem to manage these days.

In the early days of this site, HJ had a Frequently Asked Question regarding Twingos - no longer there, as questions regarding them are no longer frequently asked!

I have a printed book of HJ's Daily Telegraph Answers 1998-99, from before this site was born. In it, HJ mentions Dafydd Williams in Wales as being a source of bits and information for Twingos in the UK.

From Google, there is a UK Twingo owners club site at
Twingo-club.co.uk
In the FAQ's section, there is a question regarding right hand drive Twingos, with a link to twingo.uk.com - which appears to be the website of... Dafydd Williams.
At the bottom of the Autocar article on the site, there is a note that he converted one car to LHD (typing error, clearly means right hand drive) but that it was too expensive to repeat.
I suggest you contact Dafydd to see how he did it.
