i have a problem
what causes my petrol 3.9 discovery to lose trigger from distributor even though it is still getting the 12v feed from battery side,i have a new lucas distributor i bought from e,bay from someone who seems to have a great reputation so dont have any issues there.
it started run for 15 mins then on roadtest cut out dead.
got another amplifier as was told the one on new distributor was faulty.
tried new one run for 15 mins appx then cut out dead no trigger but still 12v feed.
vehicle will then refuse to run again.
any ideas folks.car is lpg converted if that makes a differance but cant see why

What heat-sink compound are you using?

The amplifier is attached to the side of the distributor; when it's replaced, you need to smear a heat-transfer compound on the mating surfaces or it will overheat.

has some coating of a white looking stuff but dont know exactly but looks like what you are talking about but car is not running very long before the amplifier breaks, doesnt seem to be a heat problem?what a mystery if i balasted system would that stop any spike getting to amp

What spike? There's no evidence of a spike - and lack of heat compound can kill amplifiers in minutes. Didn't the new amp come with a sachet in the box? [Don't get it on your fingers.]
|
amp came coated on the side with what looks like the heat compound
was not told to do any more than fit replacement when it arrived if deff was coated with something on the side that was faced to dissy.
why can my problem not be simple you buy a new distributor and that should cure it then amp that was pre fitted goes down then so does replacement amp problem was i have never seen how it was wired originally but cant think how it could be wired wrongly as it is a simple system

If I can decipher that block or words; [why make it hard to understand?] then I think you're saying "what's the wiring to the amp?"
Three wires; white - ignition feed; white/black - switching for coil neg; black - earth. [There were a few red/blue versions; but I think yours is too late.]
What coil have you got?
|
coil is a intermotor 11410
|
IMHO Intermotor stuff is bin-filler - so I certainly don't have data on them; but measure the resistance between the two primary terminals.
