Need 2002 key-fob - anywhere less than £100? - Crimea
Hi,

I need a new (possibly two, for both remotes) electronic ?blipper? part of a 2002 Nissan Micra key-fob as shown here www.remotekey.co.uk/cars/nissan/ (2nd from the bottom, on the left) ? the ?remote? part and not the complete ?key and fob?. The Micra doesn?t have an alarm, although the manual says it does have an Immobiliser, even though I?ve unlocked and driven the car by using solely the key. I?m confused about that part.

The fobs have been used so much that the incredibly-poorly-made switches on the circuit-boards, inside the key-fobs, are all-but-broken, as well as the outer rubber pads being split. Over the years I?ve repaired the circuit boards and replaced the batteries, when necessary, but now I?ve had to resort to sellotape to keep the circuit boards together.

I?ve read that a dealer could well charge over £100 for a new key-fob and re-programming.

Can I buy this cheaper elsewhere or buy one or two second-hand, as the one, in the link above, is also about £100?

Could I, alternatively, buy a replacement for the little square circuit-board (which is the main part that doesn?t work) inside the remote? It?s easily removable as I?ve removed it, numerous times, to repair it.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Firstly, I am by no means an expert....

Your key has probably got an chip inside it which deactivates the immobiliser when you put the key in the ignition. To check this, take your key to a key cutting place and they can easily check if it has one or not (they just scan the key with a scanner). If you can live without the remote central locking, this will be your cheapest option. (This is what I have done with my car)

I've just checked on ebay and there are a number of keys going for about £10. All the adverts say that the keys need to be reprogrammed. Check with your dealer if they can do this to a second hand key.

Also, on ebay, searching for 'nissan key reprogramming' someone is selling instructions on how to reprogram your key yourself for £1.25.

Thanks.

I guess the Immobiliser IS automatically deactivated everytime I start the car, as the rest of the PCB (everything but the buttons) probably still works. I'll have it checked. If I find a replacement key-fob and have it re-programmed, maybe the garage could also confirm the Immobiliser still works.

Call me lazy, but I'd still like remote locking and unlocking, rather than having to use the key.

Do you, or anyone else, know where I can find a new PCB or keyfob (with PCB) for less than £100?

Have you tried ebay?

I had a similar issue with 2 Passat ones and managed to repair them via ebay for £10 rather than £300 via the dealer.

That looks just like the key for my 2000 primera.
I bought a new one (excluding the key blade) from a Nissan dealer last year for £61.57 including VAT.
Instructions for reprogramming the key are available free on the www.nissanprimera.net forum - you may need to register though. You need to follow the instructions exactly.
Note that is is true for a P11 & P11-144 Primera - but the keyfob does look identical.

I will probably need to do my spare key soon - they really are poor quality.

Yes, I had the same issue with my 2001 Primera last year.
You can buy a key fob seperately for about £40-ish on e-bay. But, in order to re-program your new key fob to the car you need to have a fully-working key fob already, both unlock and lock buttons working.

My key didn't, so I took the car to the main dealer (in the NW of England) & for £100 cut me a new key, got me a new key fob and then coded it to the car.

Once I had this, I then used the key fob I bought from e-bay and re-coded this key fob with the old key to the car. So now I have 2 keys & remotes.

Without taking mine to the dealer to get a working key fob in the first place, I couldn't have re-programmed the key fob as the 'lock' button on the fob was well and truly mauled (car had been bought as salvage a couple of years previously so everyone in the chain had tried breaking it).

does that help ???

cheers

Thanks, everyone.

I?d already tried ebay (I forgot to mention it), but they?re all used fobs and I?d prefer a brand, spanking new one ? picky, I know. You never know how long a ?used? fob will last.

I found alarmremotes.co.uk earlier and, once I know what I?m talking about, I plan to e-mail them about a replacement fob.

The removable plastic part of the fob (part with the key) reads ?CE Siemens 5WK4 885? ? on the side facing you, if you point the key blade to the right ? with ?NATS? on the top/bottom. One on ebay has the code on the opposite side ? I presume the code refers to the type of fob/electronics and it doesn?t matter whether the fob was originally meant for a Primera, etc. Are all these round ones with the circular rubber pad (halved for each lock/unlock function) the same?

Incidentally, does anyone know the technical name for my Jan, 2002 Micra? SteVee mentioned his ?P11? Primera and I?ve read references to ?K11? Micras. Is this important?

Maybe I don?t need all this info but, if I?m going to spend up to £100, I want to make sure I get the correct fob.

Thanks, again.

The 2002 Micra would be a K11

>The Micra doesn?t have an alarm.
Are you sure? I thought all UK cars were Cat 1 nowadays i.e. alarm and immobiliser.
Need 2002 Micra key-fob - anywhere less than £100? - pyruse
All new-ish UK cars have an immobiliser - many don't have an alarm (our 2004 Almera doesn't, for instance).
Personally I wouldn't want a car with an alarm. Far more likely to inconvenience you by going off when it shouldn't than serving any useful purpose.

Useful link DD. So, according to that first link, the 2002 Micra has a "NATS 2000 Alarm 02" Cat 1 alarm as standard? Did I read that right?

Basic 2002 K11 doesn't have alarm as standard... Just engine immobiliser.

2002-2003 was the cutover to the K12. Maybe that has an alarm?

Hi all I just re-programmed my keyfob from the instructions here for free http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-Key-Keyfob-Programming-Reprogramming?ugid=10000000007277355

It works perfectly now and all for the price of a new battery for my fob! Give it a try for yourselves! Cheers!
