Hi to all, second post today, and again any help would be appreciated. My left rear indicator works fine, maybe a little dim. but is ok for turning left and hazard lights turned on. However if I apply the brakes while turning left, the light rapid blinks as if on of the bulbs in the system is blown. As above tthe bulbs are all fine. I removed the unit at the rear and checked the connections an could see no apparent short in the unit. Any body help a not to savvy on car maintainance guy??

sounds like an earth fault in the rear lights

Hi, thanks for replying. Is it something I can check for myself or is it someting for the 'professionals' in my local afordable renault dealer!!!!!!

Hopefully you can sort it yourself.
I agree with Defender that it seems like a faulty earth connection ( I had the same problem on my old Sierra).

It is is a poor connection, Not a short circuit.

No need to remove the light unit. Try to plug and unplug the connecting plug, say 3 or 4 times which may clean the connections.
If this does not work then try connecting one end of a length of wire from say the boot catch ( on the main body - not on the lid/hatch ) and attach the other end to the earth strip on the rear light cluster.
The earth is the strip that goes to each and every bulb holder in the lamp cluster.
If this solves the problem then consider making a permanent extra earth from the light cluster to any nearby nut/ bolt on the main body of the car.
(I finished up doing this to both rear light clusters on my Sierra)

If you are not happy trying this then ANY motor mechanic can carry out the above procedure / fix it.

This works wonderfully, my problem was when i broke the indictor won't work, so applied this suggestion and now works, many thanks henry k.
